Selected as the first qualified additive manufacturing (AM) vendor under U.S. Army GVSC's AM acceleration campaign.

Qualification achieved in under two weeks through existing Cooperative Research & Development Agreement (CRADA).

Validation work involves printing critical components in Aluminum CP1 and Inconel 718 on Velo3D’s Sapphire printers.

Upon completion, AM alternatives will be made available to U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Command (TACOM).

All Sapphire® printers are U.S.-assembled and support large-format printing (up to 600mm diameter, 1 meter height).

Systems meet Department of War cybersecurity standards and can securely connect to military networks.

Management Commentary:

"Accelerating AM solutions is a critical effort for the Army and GVSC," said Mr. Brandon Pender, Associate Director, GVSC Materials Engineering. "Velo3D has the advanced AM technology we need within industry and the robust process, quality and material data available required to support our accelerated qualification process. We are excited to replicate this process with other industrial base partners and appreciative of Velo3D's close cooperation that enabled us to rapidly validate this concept."

"Velo3D is humbly honored to support the U.S. Army and be the first of an important cohort of industrial base partners facilitating GVSC's rapid advancement of sustainment technologies at the speed of war - soldiers should expect nothing less from a company like ours," said Dr. Arun Jeldi, CEO of Velo3D. "Our Rapid Production Solution is a proven solution the Department of War and the broader national security community increasingly rely on to accelerate the delivery of critical advanced technologies."

Our Quick Take:

Velo3D’s Army qualification is meaningful but not an immediate revenue driver. The qualification is CRADA-based, meaning the Army is testing the technology but has not committed to any purchases. Near-term revenue will likely come only from pilot projects or a few systems, while wider adoption will take time.

Velo3D, Inc. develops and sells advanced metal 3D printers and software solutions that enable the production of complex, high-performance parts for industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, and energy.

Research

Velo3D, Inc. (NASDAQ:VELO) ($23.07; $573.6M market cap) announced a Cooperative Research & Development Agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC):

Entered a CRADA with the U.S. Army GVSC to develop and qualify additively manufactured parts and assemblies for ground combat vehicles.

Velo3D’s Rapid Production Solution will be used to prototype alternatives to traditional manufacturing methods.

The collaboration includes evaluation of Velo3D qualified alloys for large-format Sapphire® printers.

Velo3D’s systems meet DoD cybersecurity standards and can connect securely to military networks.

All Sapphire® printers are U.S.-assembled and capable of printing parts up to 600mm diameter and 1 meter height, repeatably.

The partnership aims to support Army maintenance modernization and reduce repair delays impacting combat vehicle readiness.

Management Commentary:

"We are excited for this collaboration between GVSC and Velo3D to identify solutions that will rapidly improve the resilience to the Army's combat vehicle supply chain. The combination of GVSC's expertise and long history of advancing vehicle technology for the US. Army, with Velo3D's proven capabilities as an industry leader in advanced additive manufacturing is sure to deliver the solutions the warfighter needs," said Mr. Brandon Pender, Associate Director, GVSC Materials Engineering.

"Velo3D is proud to be the first U.S.-based industrial scale OEM with domestically developed Laser Powder-Bed Fusion additive manufacturing technologies to additively manufacture alternatives for the U.S. Army's ground vehicle supply chains," said Dr. Arun Jeldi, CEO of Velo3D. "Through our Rapid Production Solution, we are helping provide faster part delivery, enhanced reliability, and the surge capacity needed to meet evolving defense demands."

Our Quick Take:

We believe this agreement strengthens VELO’s credibility by positioning it as a trusted partner. More importantly, the collaboration highlights Velo3D’s Rapid Production Solution (RPS), a central component of the company’s turnaround strategy. It also highlights the broader trend of the U.S. Army’s pivot toward additive manufacturing. As a matter of fact, some sources indicate that the DoD’s FY2026 budget increases funding for additive manufacturing projects by approximately 83% year-over-year, which should be a significant tailwind for the company.

Awarded a $32.6 million Other Transition Agreement (OTA) contract under DIU’s “Project FORGE” to support a major U.S. Department of War weapons program

VELO news 2

Contract aims to resolve manufacturing bottlenecks through advanced additive manufacturing (AM) solutions.

Velo3D will collaborate with DIU, the U.S. Navy, and a key industry prime to prototype and qualify AM components.

Agreement includes option to develop the largest format Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) printing capability in the U.S.

Solution leverages Velo3D’s Rapid Production Solution (RPS) for faster, scalable delivery of mission-critical components.

“We are excited for the collaboration between DIU and industry partners like Velo3D to develop and qualify the AM solution needed to resolve a critical production backlog,” said Mr. Derek McBride, Program Manager, DIU.

“As the only U.S.-based industrial scale OEM with domestically developed Laser Powder-Bed Fusion technology, Velo3D is absolutely honored for the opportunity to collaborate with the DoW, DIU, the Navy to ultimately deliver a solution that supports the warfighter,” said Dr. Arun Jeldi, CEO of Velo3D. “Through our Rapid Production Solution, we are providing faster part delivery, enhanced reliability and the surge capacity needed to meet evolving defense demands.”

In a separate 8K released today, the company announced it is raising full year guidance:

“...due to the extended government shutdown during the fourth quarter of 2025, which impacted all government entities and resulted in limitations on the Company’s ability to execute on its normal business operations, the Company is revising its full year 2025 revenue guidance to now be between $45 million and $55 million. The shutdown caused delays in approvals and project timelines, but the Company successfully maintained operations and client relationships throughout this challenging period, it believes positioning itself for a strong recovery. The Company anticipates its operations to return to pre-government shutdown levels as it moves into fiscal 2026.”

The company also announced a $30 million private placement:

Announced a $30 million PIPE (Private Investment in Public Equity) financing with two institutional investors.

3.6 million shares to be issued at $8.25 per share.

Closing expected on or about December 23, 2025.

Proceeds will support general corporate purposes and capital expenditures, including Rapid Production Services (RPS) targeting the space and defense sectors.

"We believe securing this capital from a new fundamental institutional investor and a large existing institutional shareholder is a powerful endorsement of Velo's trajectory and the critical role we play in the modern space and defense landscape," said Arun Jeldi, CEO of Velo. "As the defense and space sectors demand faster, more resilient supply chains, this investment empowers us to execute our strategic vision. We are eager to collaborate with our new partners as we scale our capabilities and deliver on the promise of next-generation manufacturing for our nation's most vital industries."

Our Quick Take:

Based on Q3 results, this contract marks more than a half year's worth of revenues, however, we do not see any time frame of the contract in the release. Regarding the private placement, we think it was a good move by the company, given that the stock probably got ahead of itself during its monster move over the last two weeks.

Reaffirmed full-year 2025 guidance: $50–$60 million revenue; >30% Q4 gross margin; positive EBITDA expected 1H 2026

Management Commentary:

"Our third-quarter results reflect the progress we are making in strengthening our operational efficiency and positioning the Company for sustained growth and profitability," said Arun Jeldi, CEO of Velo3D. "We are encouraged by the commercial market response to our Rapid Production Services (RPS), which is leading to repeat customer orders, new customer signings and strategic agreements across aerospace and defense. Recent partnerships, including the U.S. Navy Maritime Industrial Base Program, the U.S. Army DEVCOM AvMC initiative and Linde AMT, strengthen our backlog and support the delivery of high-value, cost-effective production capabilities. Through disciplined cost management and targeted investments, we are improving margins and moving toward positive EBITDA in the first half of 2026 while scaling our technology for long-term growth."

Some highlights from the conference call:

“We are delivering steady growth, operational improvement, and expanding margins, all while maintaining a clear line of sight toward profitability in the first half of 2026…

…Our backlog grew to $21 million as of September 30, up from $16 million at the end of quarter 2, reflecting strong repeat orders and long-term production contracts from customers who are embedding Velo3D into their mission-critical supply chains…

…We expect margins to continue to improve as our scales and new Saphyr systems are built to order…

…So, overall, operational efficiency, one part. And the second part is the RPS gross margins are pretty high. And as we mentioned before, the Q2-Q3 is a snowball effect. We are breaking up and increasing the percentage of revenue, and that actually helps quite a bit. And also, we are very careful on our gross margins on the new machine circuit cell, so that's where our confidence level is. That's why we are still guiding at 30%.

From Q&A:

Question - So, in Q4, will you have kind of gone through most of the old legacy backlog from, like, a year ago?

Mgmt. Answer - Yes.”

VELO was also one of the presenting companies at our Starting Five Defense Virtual conference in October 2025, you can see the presentation here.

Velo3D, Inc. develops and sells advanced metal 3D printers and software solutions that enable the production of complex, high-performance parts for industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, and energy.
