Travelzoo derives its revenue through advertising fees including listing fees paid by travel, entertainment, and local businesses to advertise their offers on company's media properties. Most of the company's revenue is derived from the North America.

Removed TZOO From Model Portfolio

Recall that on December 22, 2022 we added Travelzoo (NASDAQ:TZOO), a,publisher of travel and entertainment offers, to our Swing Trade Model Portfolio (Now called FundiTrading) on the heels of contributor MS Microcaps’ December 2, 2022 article. The article implied that investors may have misanalyzed the dilution of a transaction by not considering the meaningful value of acquired net operating losses (NOLs).

Yesterday we removed TZOO from the Model Portfolio via premium tweet:

It was a volatile ride, with the stock initially falling, but we ended up closing it out of the Model Portfolio at a 59% return. TZOO reached a high of $10.86 in early June, which represented a 96% return. There has been a lot of insider selling every time the stock pops. So, that is something we’ll keep an eye on heading into the Q2 2023 report.

Travelzoo (NASDAQ:TZOO) ($6.35, $97.7m market cap), an Internet media company that provides travel, entertainment, and local deals from travel and entertainment companies, announced Q1 2023 results:

Sales of $21.6 million vs $18.4 million in the prior year; beating analyst estimates of $20.3 million
EPS of $0.23 vs a loss of $0.19 in the prior year and doubling analyst estimates of $0.16

“For Q2 2023, we currently expect growth in revenue and growth in operating profit to continue year-over-year. During the pandemic, we have been able to lower our fixed costs. We believe we can keep our fixed costs relatively low in the foreseeable future.”

The year over year growth guidance covers a wide range. The company can report year over year growth and still miss analyst estimates, as current estimates call for sales growth of 22.7% and 191% for EPS.

Travelzoo (NASDAQ:TZOO) ($4.58, $71.8m market cap), an Internet media company that provides travel, entertainment, and local deals from travel and entertainment companies, announced Q4 2022 results:

Sales of $18.6 million vs $13.6 million in the prior year; in line with analyst estimates of $18.3 million
EPS of $0.20 vs a loss of $0.27 in the prior year and doubling analyst estimates of $0.10

“Revenue growth accelerated in both North America and in Europe, leading to much stronger earnings," said Holger Bartel, Travelzoo's Global CEO. "As the recovery from the pandemic continues, we will leverage Travelzoo's global reach and trusted brand to further improve earnings in future periods."
